Vaccination

Vaccination is essential to protect your pet, but also your family members. Dogs and cats need regular vaccinations. In addition, anti-rabies vaccination is an obligation for dogs and cats traveling abroad.

During the vaccination consultation, we always check the health state of your animal before vaccinate him, to ensure he is healthy enough to receive the injection. In addition, it allows regular monitoring of your pet and therefore can allow us to detect potential health problems that previously would have gone unnoticed.

The dog vaccination

Protection against common infectious diseases

We recommend starting the puppy vaccination between 7 and 8 weeks of age, and then make a booster injection 3 to 5 weeks later. The vaccines are most effective if the animal was dewormed before vaccination (5 to7 days before). An annual booster is then necessary. In most cases, taking into account the diseases present in Vietnam, we vaccinate against the following diseases (what we call DAPPiCL vaccination):

  • Distemper (D as Distemper ), a disease that affects many organs and can cause death, especially in puppies.
  • Rubarth Hepatitis (A as Adenovirus type 1), a disease that affects the liver, especially in young dogs.
  • Parvovirus (P), a severe gastroenteritis, often fatal, particularly in puppies.
Parainfluenza (Pi), one of the viruses causing kennel cough, a respiratory disease.
  • Type 2 Adenovirus (A), another virus causing kennel cough.
  • Coronavirosis (C), a viral gastroenteritis.
  • Leptospirosis (L), a bacterial disease that affects the kidneys and liver, especially transmitted by contact with the urine of rats and stagnant water.

The vaccines that we use are very effective against these diseases. Concerning vaccination against leptospirosis , if your dog loves to swim or hunt rats , it is recommended to give a booster injection every 6 months.

Cat vaccination

Protection against common infectious diseases

Usually we recommend starting vaccination at 8 weeks of age and then make a booster injection 3-4 weeks later. An annual booster is then necessary. In most cases, taking into account the diseases present in Vietnam, we vaccinate against the following diseases (we call it vaccination CRP):

  • Calicivirus (C), one of cat coryza virus (like a cold).
  • Rhinotracheitis (R), due to herpesvirus, another cat coryza agent.
  • Panleukopenia, also called Typhus cat, causing severe gastro enteritis that could be fatal.

It is also possible to vaccinate against feline leucosis. This vaccine can be ordered in advance, at your request.

Vaccination against rabies

Vietnam is ranked among the regions of high risk for rabies, vaccination is therefore highly recommended for all cats. Booster injections are to be made every year. If a blood test for rabies antibodies was performed on your cat, you must be very careful about the date of booster vaccination. Indeed, the result of this test is only valid if the booster injections are made in respect of the duration of protection afforded by the vaccine.

In addition, antirabies vaccination is an obligation for cats traveling abroad.
